For business owners that have been around 20+ years, you are probably dreading creating a Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn account. You are probably thinking that your business has done very well financially without it, so why now?

As business owners, we know that some aspects of business make us uncomfortable and perhaps this is one of those topics. In fact, some of the following questions may have crossed your mind.

  • Do I have to post content on social media daily?

  • Should I have more than one social media account when I don’t have enough time to manage daily business operations?

  • Which social media is best for my particular business?

  • How do I determine which hashtags I should use at the end of each post?

  • Should I have separate personal social media accounts from my business accounts?

These are all good questions that each business owner must ask himself or herself. While creating content and managing social media can be a nuisance at times, there is an upside. Having a social media presence can: 1.) Introduce more people to the products and services your business offers.  2.) Create a pathway for you to actively engage with your followers and think of innovative ways to collaborate. 3.) Provide great brand exposure and keep your business on the minds of potential clients. 4.) Give you the opportunity to introduce new lines of business, products and services.

To compliment having a great social media presence should be a robust website that is user friendly, informative and appealing to your targeted audiences. Make sure that the website is consistently updated and gives your viewers a reason to visit both your website and social media pages concurrently each week.

And NO…social media WILL NEVER go away. It is here to stay! So embrace creating content for social media and have fun while doing it.  After all, people are scrolling through social media feeds even more while working remotely during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Take advantage of this opportunity and seize the moment.
