Engaging Your Customers During the Holiday Season

The holidays are a wondrous time of year where we see beautiful lights, wintery scenes, heartwarming movies, family gatherings, gifts under the trees and children giggling in glee.  The holidays can also be an incredible busy and stressful time.  During this time of year, we often get caught up in our shopping lists, decorating tasks, holiday parties, baking cookies and so many other things that make life at this time of year so hectic. This flurry of events and activities often lasts from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.

For many businesses that are in the retail or sales industry, this is an incredibly busy time of year. Contrarily, it can be a very slow time for many other businesses with people being preoccupied with their holiday preparations.  During this time is when businesses should be working diligently at ramping up their customers' engagement. At this time of year, businesses should ensure that they stay at the forefront of their customers minds.  Continuous engagement is essential for the success and growth of all businesses no matter the size.  The holiday season is the perfect time to do just that.

The holiday season is an ideal time to have constant contact with your customer base, to let them know how much you appreciate them, how thankful you are for their patronage, what offerings you have for them and how doing business with you will benefit them. It is a time to give back with either a sale, a prize, a discount, and/or information that can be beneficial to them for their growth and development.  It is also a good time to let your customers know how you plan to give back to your community this holiday season.

A holiday engagement plan should be well thought out, well planned out and well executed.  Simply throwing out a few mediocre social media posts will not be sufficient.  Your plan should be organized well in advance with a beginning, a middle and culminating in a special ending.  Your customers should feel remembered, special and appreciated. They should feel valued as a customer and should not only want to continue to do business with you, year after year, but they should want to refer your business to all their friends and family.

Taking the time and making the effort to remember your customers during special times of the years, and appealing directly to your customers throughout the holiday season not only keeps them engaged during a very busy time of year, but it will also have an effect on your growth and revenue for the upcoming year and potentially many more years to come. People will remember the special effort and the special messages.

As we all know, managing a business during the holidays can be stressful and difficult, with so much going on.  Being forward thinking and creating a marketing campaign several months in advance will reduce the stress and provide you with a great and fresh plan to thank your customers, entice them into new business and hopefully attract the attention of many new customers.  Finding new and better ways to serve your customers and your community is not only financially rewarding, but can also re-energize your business.  When creating new marketing campaigns for the various seasons and different quarters of the year, please consider working with HIVE Connex.
